An Interdenominational Refugee Sponsorship Group

In September 2015, Zion Lutheran spearheaded the first meeting to explore refugee sponsorship. From this meeting a Private Sponsorship of Refugees Group - New Beginnings was created. New Beginnings has grown to include concerned individuals and several faith communities.

Support in the way of donations, and preparation have been ongoing. If you are part of a faith community sharing in this project of welcoming a stranger, announcements, and details will be ongoing from New Beginnings.

If you do not have this connection, but would like to contribute, Zion Lutheran has set up the fund for this cause, REFUGEE SPONSORSHIP. Zion issues receipts for $20.00 or over upon request for donations under $20.00. Zion Lutheran will accept such donations during office hours between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday or by mailed to Refugee Sponsorship, Zion Lutheran, 189 Upton Rd. Sault Ste. Marie ON P6A 5W4 or through "zionlutheranssm".

New Beginnings is thrilled to have the privilege of developing this new friendship and supporting a family through a time of transition to a new climate, culture, and language. Prayer support is another way in which you may help.

New Beginnings is being administered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada through a Sponsorship Agreement Holder, Canadian Lutheran World Relief. CLWR is one of 91 agencies in Canada that has signed a formal agreement with the Canadian Government giving it the right and the responsibility to manage private sponsorships.

For every 1,000 people in Sault Ste. Marie that donate a gift of $27.00, a family could find refuge here!
